Suggested Contributions

Contributions from users support the services offered here. Suggestions are only suggestions, and the only thing requested is an occasional monetary gift. We specifically do not request that people imagine they "should" pay, or feel "bad" or "guilty" about not paying. This emotional busywork wastes your time and does nothing to help us provide services. We specifically do encourage you to continue using our services whether or not you are contributing. We specifically do encourage you to write things to our mailing lists that add value to the other users' lives, and encourage them to support this service. We appreciate your presence on our mailing lists or in our Directory, because it adds value to this service. We hope that eventually you will appreciate that too, and contribute.

If you have made a contract with us to receive a service in exchange for payment, or if you have made a contribution in the last year, please feel free to ignore requests for additional contributions.

In order to use PayPal's credit card payment system, we pay a fee on incoming payments. This fee amounts to 2.9% plus $0.30 on most payments. The subscription options have the fee added on, so the actual payment is larger than the amount we get. To reduce the impact of this fee, monthly subscriptions of less than $10/month will be collected quarterly instead of monthly.
